Design a Presentation
Every presentation should be a rich and satisfying experience
for the audience - and a rewarding one for the presenter.
That can happen
if
the following steps are followed:
- Set a single goal
- Profile the audience
- Identify all the benefits
- Eliminate the weakest benefits
- Develop the structure
A single goal provides a powerful focus for the entire presentation. Multiple goals diffuse that focus and sap strength from the presentation (this applies to specific goals - not generic ones).
There are five decision-making styles. The audience profile will identify which of these is important and it can then be used to select the key points of the argument.
It is common for presenters to overlook powerful benefits and use weak ones instead.
An excellent structure will reduce the possibility of this happening. It will highlight the benefits so they will resonate in the minds of the audience. |
